Bill Murray says it was an ambitious move playing U-S President Franklin D. Roosevelt in “Hyde Park on Hudson.”  The 61 year old actor was in Toronto on Monday night for the film festival to promote his new movie.

The film is based on the true story of Roosevelt’s relationship with his distant cousin and mistress Margaret Suckley, played by Laura Linney.

The affair unfolds over a weekend at the president’s country estate with the visiting King and Queen of England in 1939.

While visiting Toronto, Bill Murray was complimentary about the people of Toronto.  He says unlike at other well known film festivals such as Cannes, the residents of this city are in tune and aware of what’s happening.

Bill Murray is an Academy Award nominee and an Emmy winner.
