A private member’s bill has been introduced at Queen’s Park in hopes of reducing gas-and-dash incidents following the death of a Toronto gas attendant.
Jayesh Prajapati died last Saturday night after a motorist filled up an SUV and left the station without paying, hitting the attendant with the vehicle.
No arrest has been made.
Liberal MPP Mike Colle says he hopes ”Jayesh’s Law” would prevent similar deaths in the future.
If passed, the bill would make prepayment mandatory; introduce stiff penalties for gas station owners, who force attendants to pay for stolen gas and result in license suspensions for convicted gas thieves.
