His films have entertained for generations.  Fictional character JAMES BOND turns 50 with the day having been declared the official Global James Bond Day.

The James Bond character, created by Ian Fleming, is a suave M-I-6 secret service agent with the code name 007, residing in London but working internationally on various missions to save the world from chaos and catastrophe. The role has been played by several actors over the years starting with Sean Connery in 1962.   The sex appeal of James Bond has been matched by the many Bond girls over the years.  A group of former Bond girls gathered in London on Thursday night to celebrate 50 years of Bond.  Among them  was Shirley Eaton, who says Roger Moore was her favourite Bond.  She explained, “I think he’s lovely.  He had all the right ingredients.  He had kindness and humour.  He had sex.  He had an element of danger.  He was physically fit.  He had absolutely everything.”

The 23rd movie in the Bond franchise is “Skyfall”, with Daniel Craig playing the lead role for the third time.  It opens next month.
