Sir Tim Rice’s first show in 10 years opens in London next year.
An adaptation of the 1951 novel – and hit film – ”From Here to Eternity,” the musical will open at the Shaftesbury Theatre with previews from September 2013.
Written in conjunction with composer Stuart Brayson, it follows the love affairs of US soldiers stationed in Hawaii in the run up to Pearl Harbour.
The lyricist is best known for his partnership with Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber on shows such as Evita.
The pair also co-wrote ”Joseph and his Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat” and ”Jesus Christ Superstar”.
