Good news for Canadian history buffs.

The Greater Toronto Airports Authority has agreed to help the Canadian Air and Space Museum find a new site for its aircraft and artifact collection at Pearson International Airport.

Spokesman Scott Armstrong says the offer includes a home for the museum’s replica of the legendary Canadian-built Avro Arrow fighter jet.  He says both sides are trying to determine whether the museum could be housed in an existing building, or whether new construction would be needed.

The aviation museum is a non-profit organization run by volunteers.  It was evicted from it’s Downsview Park location more than a year ago because of difficulty paying the rent.

Earlier this month, the museum launched an online campaign  in an effort to raise $500,000 to help fund a new home for its collection.  The New AM 740’s Goldhawk Fights Back has also been a strong advocate for saving the Canadian Air and Space Museum.
