The House of Commons will be preoccupied for hours with voting on opposition amendment to a Harper government omnibus bill.

Bill C-45 is over 400 pages long.

The most contentious amendments are those to the Navigable Waters Protection Act.

They removes thousands of lakes and streams from federal protection under the act.

Opposition parties say it takes away environmental oversight of some of Canada’s most treasured lakes and rivers.
