A 23-year-old U of  Toronto grad student is spearheading a study to look at how Zoomer men’s health fares in pickup games.

Zack Goodman, who has a masters in exercise science, says he wants to learn more about what happens during the drop in blood pressure which happens when players suddenly stop and take a breather on the bench.

A sports cardiology expert from the U.S. says the stopping suddenly is probably less dangerous than the starting suddenly.

Paul Thompson adds you’re more likely to get that spasm of the arteries when you start quickly, but that there are not many studies on sudden death during exercise.

Goodman hopes to have his thesis done by June.
