Drivers and TTC riders can expect to be inconvenienced while downtown this weekend. The intersection of Spadina and Lake Shore Boulevard will be partially closed for TTC track and electricial work from 10 a.m. Friday until 5 a.m. on Monday. To accommodate the work, the eastbound Gardiner Expressway ramp to Spadina will be closed. Motorists who want to exit the Gardiner’s eastbound lanes at Spadina should instead use the Jameson or York-Bay-Yonge ramps. During the weekend project, one eastbound lane of traffic on Lake Shore Boulevard and two southbound lanes on Spadina will be open, but northbound traffic on Spadina will be closed at Lake Shore. The intersection will remain open to pedestrians.
Meantime, a portion of the subway will be closed for the weekend. There will be no subway service between St. George and Union stations on the Yonge-University-Spadina line from Saturday at 12:01 a.m. until 6 a.m. Monday. The TTC says the closure is taking place to accommodate to modernize the TTC signals, relays, wiring and cabling equipment.
