The Queen is in the hospital with what appears to be a case of gastroenteritis.

Buckingham Palace says the 86-year-old is cancelling her trip to Rome, and all other official engagements for the week ”as a precaution.”

The flu-like symptoms of gastroenteritis are generally mild and clear up after one or two days, but can be more severe in older people.
