It’s been 10 years since SARS and Mount Sinai Hospital’s chief microbiologist, Dr. Donald Low, says surveillance and the sharing of information are the two biggest advances to come of it.

The director of infection control at Mount Sinai, Dr. Allison McGeer, says ”we now have probably the world’s best guidelines on infection prevention in hospitals”.

March 5th will mark a decade since a 78-year-old Scarborough grandmother, just back from China, died. 

Her death was declared a heart attack. 

She was actually Toronto’s first SARS victim, though no one knew it at the time.
