Many women diagnosed with ovarian cancer are not getting adequate treatments or care which could extend their lives.  That’s the conclusion of a new U-S study by researchers at the University of California.  The scientists found major flaws in the care of women with ovarian cancer and that too many women are using doctors who lack expertise.

Dr. Robert E. Bristow is the lead author of the study.  He says women need to see specialists, but too many women are being treated by obstetricians who delivered their babies.

The study was presented earlier this week at a meeting of the Society of Gynecologic Oncology in Los Angeles.
