There’s more controversy involving the world famous Bolshoi Ballet.
A former soloist claims the company became “a giant brothel” under general director Anatoly Iksanov – with dancers as young as 13 expected to have sex with wealthy patrons.
The accusation comes from former dancer Anastasia Volochkova, who was famously fired in 2003 for being “too heavy.”
She made her accusations to Russian media yesterday and said the young dancers were forced to attend gala dinners and told that afterwards they would be expected to have sex – under threat of no longer dancing with the Bolshoi.
The latest scandal comes after an attacker threw sulphuric acid in the face of Bolshoi artistic director Sergei Filin, leaving him severely scarred and impairing his vision.
