The federal finance minister will walk a delicate balancing act this afternoon when he tables his latest budget.

Jim Flaherty says his document will reflect the twin needs to stimulate job growth and reduce the deficit.

The Ontario government is looking for help in the budget. Premier Kathleen Wynne says she talked to Prime Minister Stephen Harper about transit infrastructure. And Finance Minister Charles Sousa says he’s looking for support for training initiatives.

Ontario  is also hoping the federal government will provide some help for the manufacturing sector, saying there are lots of opportunities for research and innovation in the auto sector.

And Ontario may get its wish list fulfilled. Jim Flaherty has said that beefing up the manufacturing sector will be part of his budget, along with skills training, and fixing the country’s crumbling infrastructure.

The budget will be tabled at 4:00 this afternoon.
