A pair of class-action lawsuits against two of the country’s biggest  banks have been given the go-ahead  by the Supreme Court of Canada

More than 36-thousand employees of C-I-B-C and Scotiabank  are seeking hundreds of millions of dollars in unpaid overtime.

The workers claim  they were assigned more work than they could finish – within standard hours.

The banks had asked to appeal a lower court decision allowing the cases  but the Supreme Court dismissed the application.
