Yesterday’s federal budget is promising billions of dollars for infrastructure projects. And that has politicians in Ontario and the GTA buzzing.

A renewed infrastructure fund worth 47 billion dollars over 10 years and new funds for municipalities were included in yesterday’s federal budget.

Ontario Finance Minister Charles Sousa says he’s waiting to see the details of the program, and hopes it will complement Ontario’s ambitious plans for public transit.

Meanwhile, the Chair of the TTC says Toronto has a project that’s tailor-made for the new infrastructure fund. Karen Stintz says a proposed downtown relief subway line will benefit not just Toronto but the entire region.
