Prime Minister Harper will have a new chief of staff at his side when he presides over the Conservative caucus meeting Tuesday morning.

He will be dealing with Tory M-Ps who have spent the week in their home ridings, hearing from upset constituents about the Senate expense scandal that has become one of the most serious challenges of his administration.

Longtime adviser Ray Novak is taking over from Nigel Wright, who resigned as controversy swirls over the 90-thousand dollar cheque he wrote to Senator Mike Duffy.

The money was to help Duffy cover the repayment of improper housing expenses, but following Wright’s gift, Duffy stopped co-operating with an audit of his expense claims.
