Photo radar won’t come back to Ontario, but Finance Minister Charles Sousa says other government proposals to increase and change user fees will be reviewed.

The Progressive Conservatives have obtained Treasury Board documents that show some of the ideas submitted by provincial ministries asked to develop “non-tax revenue components.”

The proposals include expanding red-light cameras in “high-risk areas,” a surcharge of up to 75 cents for 911 services on monthly phone bills, “pay for stay” user fees at jails, new family court fees and an in-person service charge from ServiceOntario.

The PC’s are accusing the Liberals of a “new tax grab” not in the May provincial budget.

But Sousa says they’re just recommendations and a lot are not being acted upon.
