Mayor Rob Ford’s Executive Committee is now exclusively a male domain.

The Mayor fired the only woman on his executive. Jaye Robinson has been removed as Chair of the Community Development Committee.

Robinson says she was told by her staff, who relayed a message from a member of the Mayor’s staff. She calls it “unfortunate that the mayor did not have the courtesy” to tell her himself.

She also disputes Councillor Doug Ford’s denial that the decision has nothing to do with Robinson’s criticism of Rob Ford’s handling of the crack smoking allegations. Robinson had said she wasn’t satisfied with the way Ford handled the allegations, and suggested he step aside to deal with them.

She also thinks her statement that it’s time the mayor started speaking for himself instead of relying on his brother to do the talking for him had something to do with the dismissal.

Councillor Anthony Perruzza will take Robinson’s place.

Ford also demoted another member of his executive who had confirmed the story that the mayor was asked to leave a military ball in March because he appeared impaired. Paul Ainslee has been moved from Chair of the government management committee to the lower-profile parks and environment committee.
