Bayer is not about to back down.

Representatives with the pharmaceutical giant are standing by the safety of Bayer’s two popular birth-control pills, despite federal documents that now link Yaz and Yasmin to the deaths of at least 23 Canadian women since 2007.

The Health Canada documents also link the pills to 600 adverse reactions reported from women taking the contraceptives.

The mother of 18-year-old Miranda Scott who died three years ago wants the products off the shelf.

Chip McClaughry says her daughter had been healthy all her life before collapsing and dying while exercising.  An autopsy later showed the University of B.C. Okanagan student had a series of blood clots in her lungs.
