It’s more than four times what was originally claimed he owed.
Senator Mac Harb has been told he must repay more than $230,000 in living expenses.
The amount was detailed in a letter sent to him earlier this month.
A spokesman for the Chair of the Senate Internal Economy Committee says that figure is based on a review dating back seven years.
The Senate ordered the review of Harb’s living expenses after it originally ordered him to repay about $51,000 in housing claims – including interest.
Official letters asking for repayment have gone out to Harb and Senator, Patrick Brazeau.
The Senate has ordered Brazeau to repay about $49,000 in housing claims.
Harb has not commented, but he indicated earlier that he intended to fight the ruling.
He has stepped away from the Liberal caucus.
