Former Senator, Pamela Wallin broke her silence concerning the spending scandal surrounding her.

In an interview with the CBC Wallin denied she had a sense of entitlement.

She also said that the Prime Minister’s current chief of staff ordered her to quit the Conservative caucus last month, because public controversy over her Senate expenses was becoming a distraction.

Wallin quit the caucus on May 17th, saying at the time that she was recusing herself  while a report was being prepared on tens of thousands of dollars in expense claims she had made since April 2009.

The former broadcaster said she mistakenly billed travel expenses to the Senate that should have been billed to third parties including boards on which she served  and that they were business related and not for Conservative Party events.

Wallin admits she made mistakes and is very sorry.

An audit into her spending is underway.

The results will not be given to the Senate until late July.

It is expected to be made public sometime in August.
