What makes a dancer a dancer?
As it turns out, it all boils down to DNA.
A new report from Hebrew University examined the DNA of dancers and found they all carry differences in two genes from the general public.
The findings match similar studies that show variation in the genetic makeup of musicians and athletes.
In the case of dancers, their genes a heightened sense of communication, often of a symbolic and ceremonial nature, and a strong spiritual personality trait …. all considered important attributes for dancers.
The study is published in PLoS Genetics.
