The conflict of interest case against Mayor Rob Ford is done.
The Supreme Court of Canada announced this morning it will not hear an appeal of the case that stems back to 2010.
Ford was found guilty by a lower court of violating the municipal conflict of interest act when he voted on a city council motion absolving him of having to re-pay funds he had solicited for his football charity using city resources.
A three-judge appeal panel overturned the motion, and lawyer Claton Ruby decided to appeal to the Supreme Court on behalf of his client, Paul Magder.
As usual, the Supreme Court didn’t give any reasons for its decision. But it only hears a small number of appeals every year on cases it considers of public importance. Even Clayton Ruby didn’t hold out high hopes of an appeal.
