There’s a mad scramble by U-S intelligence agencies as they try to salvage surveillance of al-Qaeda and other terrorists who are changing the way they communicate.

This comes in the wake of the leak by Edward Snowden of details of two NSA spying programs.

Speaking anonymously, two U-S intelligence officials say members of virtually every terrorist group including al-Qaeda, are trying to change how they communicate – to hide from U.S. surveillance.

The officials wouldn’t go into details of the electronic game of cat-and-mouse which could have deadly consequences but they say terrorists may be switching email accounts or cellphone providers or adopting new encryption techniques.

Snowden was last reported seen in the Moscow airport.
