At least eight people have been injured as a result of a serious crash in downtown Toronto this afternoon.
Police confirm several of those injured were pedestrians.
The crash happened at around 1:20 p.m. at the intersection of Lake Shore Boulevard and Bay Street.
Police believe a car may have crashed with an SUV after the driver tried to make a last-minute left-hand turn towards Bay.
At least one vehicle jumped the curb, hitting a light post and injuring a number of pedestrians – at least one of which is in hospital in critical condition.
Police have closed Lake Shore Blvd. to traffic between Yonge and York streets , blocking access to the Union Station bus terminal. All bus service, including GO Transit, has been suspended at the terminal.
The intersection is expected to remain closed into the early evening.
One person at the scene said the driver of one of the vehicles is part of a barbershop convention -visiting from out of town and had never driven in Toronto before.
