It’s an opportunity to see works by 400 of the best contemporary artists all in one space. The 2013 Toronto Outdoor Art Exhibition begins on Friday and runs through the weekend at Nathan Phillips Square. Taliaferro Jones is the exhibition’s Director of Development and Operations. She visited our studios at Zoomer Radio and said that it’s been an annual event in Toronto since the 1960s, when it was started by Murray and Marvelle Koffler. “They ‘d gone to New York and seen another outdoor art fair, and thought why don’t we have this in Toronto,” she explained, “so they partnered with some of their friends, and they held it for the first time at what was then the Four Seasons Motel on Jarvis Street and it was a great success, and there was not enough room in the parking lot, and they negotiated to host it at Nathan Phillips Square.” The Toronto Outdoor Art Exhibition is the largest of its kind in Canada.
