Broadway has been inundated with stage versions of popular movies over the past few years. And there are more to come.
Twentieth Century Fox has formed a new joint venture to turn the studio’s vast arsenal of films into stage musicals.
The studio has put together a team to develop at least nine musicals based on the studio’s films.
Twentieth Century Fox hopes to join Disney, Warner Brothers, Sony and MGM as major players on Broadway.
The studio has a number of films that could make good musicals: Mrs Doubtfire, Cocoon, Home Alone, Turning Point, and Norma Rae.
Some of the studio’s films have already been turned into musicals, including Big, 9 to 5 and Young Frankenstein.
