Toronto will officially be in the midst of a heat wave later today when the temperature reaches 32 degrees celcius.  Yesterday, the city recorded a steamy 34.8 degrees, which felt ten degrees hotter than that with the humidity.   Tomorrow’s another hot one, and then, as Environment Canada’s Dave Phillips explains, “we can see some Canadian air coming to us, just in time for the weekend.  So get rid of all this warm humid, and get ready for cool, dry, sunny Canadian weather.  And we’ll probably get some weather in between that, just to announce it, some thunder boomers.”

The Extreme Heat Alert continues for the city of Toronto.  Seven cooling centres have been opened and some outdoor public pools stay open until just before midnight.  We’re also encouraged by the city’s medical officer of health to check in on elderly family members and neighbours.
