After a silver maple in Toronto’s Leslieville neighbourhood was knocked over Friday night, many thought the country sustained a historical loss.
After all, it was the tree that inspired Alexander Muir to write ”The Maple Leaf Forever”.
It just so happens, there’s a 13-year-old offspring living not far away in Maple Leaf Forever Park.
Canadians can thank Zoomer Bill Wrigley, who planted keys from that tree.
Some sprouted but just one survived.
It was eventually replanted in the park close to the original.
