What’s been called the Great Kate Wait is over.

Reporters are staking out St. Mary’s Hospital in London where the Duchess of Cambridge is in labour.

Kate will give birth in the same private wing of St. Mary’s Hospital where Diana had Prince William and his younger brother,  Harry. William is with his wife and plans to be in the delivery room.

British Prime Minister David Cameron says Britain is eagerly anticipating the new baby.  “Obviously, best wishes to them.  It’s a very exciting occasion and the whole country is excited with them so we wish them the best.”

The baby will become third in line to the throne.

Experts say, with a first pregnancy, it could be hours before the baby is born. But crowds already are gathering outside Buckingham Palace. That’s where the official announcement will be made.

Toronto’s CN Tower will be lit up in pink or blue once the royal birth has been announced.
