Drivers heading to the east end of Toronto face an extra challenge today.
There will be ongoing lane restrictions on the eastbound Gardiner Expressway from Jarvis to the Don Valley Parkway. It’s the section of the aging parkway that has been plagued by chunks of falling debris.
John Kelly is Toronto’s acting director of design and construction. He says the city is conducting an environmental assessment to determine what to do with the Gardiner in the long run. These repairs will keep it safe for motorists on and under the expressway while city council decides its future.
The lane restrictions will continue until December.
