About 500 angry protesters chanting “Justice for Sami”  are marching west on Dundas to Bellwoods – the area where 18 year old Sammy Yatim was shot dead by a police officer.

Toronto’s Police Chief  Bill Blair says  he will conduct an investigation into the multiple shooting death of the 18 year old on a TTC streetcar.

Blair says he will submit his report 30-days after the Special Investigations Unit tables its findings.

The police officer alleged to have done the shooting has been suspended without pay.

Ontario’s ombudsman says his office is also looking at the case.

But Andre Marin is also cautioning against a rush to judgement and says the Special Investigations Unit must be allowed to do its work.

Marin says his office would also be watching closely to see just how well police co-operate with the SIU in its investigation of Yatim’s death.
