Shortly after a 14-year-old girl was struck and killed by a truck on the first day of the new school year, OPP Sgt Dave Woodford said, ”People have to be responsible and they got to slow down and respect what’s happening around them when they’re driving”.
Woodford told the New AM 740’s Goldhawk Fights Back, ”they don’t and that’s why we have to have laws in place for school buses and everything else”.
Meanwhile, the province will examine the need for more public safety training for students.
But Education Minister Liz Sandals says drivers must also pay closer attention now that students are back in school, especially when going through intersections.
