The daughter of an 80-year old woman who was tasered by Peel Regional Police last Wednesday says her mother has dementia.
The daughter is identified only as Angela and says she’s waiting for a spot in an assisted home while her mother stays in her current residence.
Monica Hudson is an S-I-U spokeswoman.
She says the 80-year old was walking along a road in Mississauga at around 3:30 in the morning.
Hudson said officers spoke with the woman until at some point in the incident an officer fired his Taser.
After being knocked down by the electrical shock she broke here hip.
Angela says this is the first time here mother has wandered as far as she’s aware of.
Now, she says, her mom will never go home.
The Special Investigations Unit is looking into what happened.
