US Deputy National Security Advisor, Tony Blinken say the Obama administration will consider a Russian proposal to place Syria’s chemical weapons under international control.
The proposal comes after talks in Moscow and is described by the Syrian Foreign Minister as quote: seeking to prevent American aggression.
However he stopped short of saying explicitly that President Bashar al-Assad’s government accepted the plan.
Russia said earlier today it is willing to push Syria to place its chemical weapons under international control and then dismantle them.
The proposal comes as Syrian President, Bashar al-Assad warned of possible reprisals if the United States attacks Syria.
Assad has consistently denied involvement in the August 21st assault that is widely believed to have used chemical weapons.
