Friends and family of former provincial politician George Smitherman appear baffled over the disappearance of his husband, Christopher Peloso. It was Monday afternoon, 39 year old Peloso was last seen in the Davenport Rd. and Bathurst St. area of Toronto. Toronto Police spokesman Victor Kwong says, “we are concerned for his safety. We are asking anyone who has seen him to please give us a call. We don’t know the reason why he hasn’t responded to his calls or hasn’t gone back home, so we don’t know what reasons he might have, what problems he might have.” Kwong goes on to plead with Peloso if he is out there hearing or reading about his disappearance, “to give family a call or give police a call so we can go and get him, whatever help he might need.”
Christopher Peloso and former provincial Health Minister George Smitherman were married in 2007. They’ve since adopted two children. Smitherman released a statement yesterday which says “Michael, Kayla and myself, with the support of family and friends, are hopeful that our husband and father will be home safely soon”. Friends continued to arrive at the couple’s home in downtown Toronto last night. The house, described as a “Stylish Contemporary 4 Level Home” in an online listing, was put on the market a few days ago for $749,000. Late last night, the “For Sale” sign was taken down.
