It’s a big come down for BlackBerry.
The smartphone maker was once a leader in the industry, but today it revealed that it will lay off 45-hundred employees, or 40 per cent of global workforce.
Blackberry is also expected to report a second-quarter loss of between 950- and 995-million-dollars U-S next week.
The Toronto Stock Exchange fell back on the news.
The S&P/TSX composite index dropped 120.31 points to 12,806.47.
The Waterloo, Ontario-based company has been conducting a review of its operations that could include the sale of the company.
