Inspectors say they haven’t  found any  problems with the train or the railway crossing where an Ottawa city bus collided with a Via passenger train.

Rob Johnston with the Transportation Safety Board  says his teams are  in the process of conducting a thorough mechanical examination of the bus, and will look into human factors as well.

Inspectors say due to a morning noise ban in the area there was no train whistle as the train approached the level crossing and  the locomotive was travelling at well below the speed limit.

The bells and guard arms were working properly at the crossing.

Six people died – including the bus driver – and more than 30 people were injured when the bus slammed into the train in an Ottawa suburb Wednesday morning.
