Piracy charges have been dropped by Russia against a ship load of Greenpeace activists, including two Canadians.

On September 18th  Russian coast guard officers seized the environmental protesters and their ship “Arctic Sunrise,” after a demonstration close to a state-owned oil rig.

Alexandre Paul of Montreal and Paul Ruzycki of Port Colborne, Ontario and the rest of the activists are now charged with hooliganism.

That is usually punished by 15 days in jail or a fine.
