Ontario’s energy minister says a $100 thousand fundraiser for the liberals, hosted by Bruce Power, had no bearing on the government’s decision not to proceed with two new nuclear reactors at Darlington. Premier Kathleen Wynne was guest of honour at the fundraiser, hosted by the CEO of the privately owned Bruce Power, September 10th at the Four Seasons Hotel in Yorkville. October 10th, the government decided not to proceed with the $15 billion dollar construction of two nuclear reactors at Darlington which would have been operated by rival Ontario Power Generation. The Toronto Star reports the energy minister was also there to chat with movers and shakers in the electricity sector. But Bob Chiarelli says the fundraiser had no bearing on the Liberal government’s energy policy making.
