The Canadian Opera Company does it again.
Another record breaking season in 2012/13 with 90 percent attendance and $10.83 million (net) in fundraising.
At the COC Annual General Meeting, Board President Tony Arrell also reported that the company achieved a modest surplus of $15,000.
The previous annual fundraising record for the COC was $9.9 million during the 2006/07 season, at the time of the opening of the Four Seasons Centre for the Performing Arts.
Under the leadership of general director, Alexander Neef, and music director, Johannes Debus, it appears that opera is in very good hands at the Canadian Opera Company.
The company has a balanced budget, no debt, and a strong balance sheet – as well as a rolodex of the greatest artists and companies in the world who want to work with the COC.
Just over 114,000 patrons attended the 61 performances of the company’s seven mainstage productions last season at the Four Seasons Centre for the Performing Arts.
