Alice Munro won’t be able to travel to Sweden to receive her Nobel Prize for Literature. But she will be well represented.

The first Canadian woman to receive the Literature Prize will be represented by her daughter. Jenny Munro will attend the ceremony on her mother’s behalf on December 10th and collect the prize, which is worth about a million dollars.

The 82-year-old author had previously said she wasn’t well enough to make the journey to Stockholm.

Munro will also be honoured tomorrow night at the closing of the International Festival of Authors at Harbourfront.

And, earlier this week, Margaret Atwood tweeted a photo of her sharing a glass of champagne in Victoria, BC, to celebrate the award.
