The standoff between Toronto’s Chief of Police and the Ford brothers has escalated.

Councillor Doug Ford is calling on Bill Blair to step aside pending an investigation by the Police Service’s board.

Ford says Bill Blair is biased against Mayor Rob Ford. He points to Blair’s statement on Thursday that he had seen the video that allegedly shows Mayor Ford smoking crack cocaine. At the time, Blair said that, as a citizen of Toronto, he was “disappointed.”

Ford calls that a “massive conflict of interest.” He calls Blair “the most political police chief we’ve ever had.”

He refused to answer the question as to why Blair should step down when his brother has ignored similar calls.
