It’s a big night for literature here in Toronto.
The winner of the Giller Prize for fiction will be unveiled at a black-tie gala.
The finalists for this year’s $50,000 prize include Lisa Moore and Lynn Coady who are also finalists for this year’s Rogers Writers Trust Fiction Prize, to be announced on the 20th of this month.
Toronto writer David Gilmour is not on the Giller list.
The University of Toronto instructor made headlines recently – when he told Random House of Canada’s online magazine Hazlitt that he’s not interested in teaching books – by women.
Last year, Calgary’s Will Ferguson nabbed the Giller for “419.”
