Rob Ford’s lawyer says he’s negotiating with police to allow the Mayor to see the video that appears to show Ford smoking crack cocaine.  Dennis Morris says the talks include several other related topics, including a request by police investigators to question Mayor Ford.  Chief Bill Blair said he was disappointed last week, when he revealed police had a copy of the infamous video.  This prompted a call by the Mayor’s brother, Councillor Doug Ford, for the Chief to step aside.

If the Chief is feeling pressure from this request, he wasn’t showing it last night at the Chief’s fundraising gala. “We’re doing our job out there and we’ll continue to do so.  I’ll leave comment on that particular issue to others,” said Blair.  Neither the Mayor nor the Councillor attended last night’s gala.  Doug Ford also withdrew his auction item of a lunch or dinner with the Ford brothers at Harbour Sixty Steakhouse.

Premier Kathleen Wynne was at last night’s event at the Liberty Grand, and expressed her ongoing concern by the Mayor’s admission that he has tried crack cocaine.  “I’m paying close attention because I am concerned,” Wynne explained, “but the City of Toronto, the council, has tools at its disposal and so they need to use those.”

A growing number of Toronto city councillors are supporting a motion to strip Mayor Ford of some of his powers.  Mayor Ford insists he will stay on and run for re-election next October.
