It’s happened.
Toronto city council has voted overwhelmingly to slash Mayor Rob Ford’s budget – and move many of his duties to the deputy mayor.
This came after a rowdy and passionate debate on whether council had the legal authority to make the changes.
Ford himself denounced the measures and said council had “declared war.”
Council’s action comes on the heels of two earlier motions Friday – stripping him of his ability to appoint key committee chairs or to exercise emergency powers.
Toronto’s embattled mayor has steadfastly refused to take a leave of absence or resign – since confessing he’s smoked crack cocaine in a “drunken stupor.”
