Coming to a farmer’s market near you – Ontario wines.
Premier Kathleen Wynne says it’s part of a $75-million plan launched in 2009 to support local wineries and help the sector grow.
There’s also an Ontario wine fund being created to purchase specialized equipment and machinery, as well as better marketing for wines locally – and around the world.
And Wynne says Ontario will develop a “wine secretariat” to come up with ways to reduce red tape and help growers and wineries be more competitive.
The premier has rejected calls to allow corner stores to sell beer and wine but she has said she would broaden their availability through speciality outlets and grocery stores.
