The people who review movies in Toronto have chosen the latest from the Coen Brothers as their favourite of the year.
The Toronto Film Critics Association announced that Inside Llewyn Davis by Joel and Ethan Coen is their pick for Best Film of the year.
The movie about New York’s Greenwich Village folk music scene in the Sixties will be released this Friday.
The TFCA also picked one of the film’s stars, Oscar Isaac, as best actor. He appears opposite Justin Timberlake.
They selected Cate Blanchett as best actress for her role in Blue Jasmine.
Best Director was Alfonso Cuaron for Gravity. Best screenplay went to Spike Jonze for Her.
And the Toronto Film Critics selected Joshua Oppenheimer’s The Act of Killing as the recipient of the BMA Alan King Documentary Award. They also announced the nominees for the Rogers Best Canadian Film Award.
The winner of the $100,000 prize will be announced at a gala on January 7th.
