Everyone in Toronto should have had power restored by day’s end Monday.

But as just under 300 customers know, that didn’t happen.

While the Mayor guaranteed complete restoration yesterday, at the same time he did point out there might be a few, here and there, who ight have to wait a bit longer.

The city’s emergency committee, made up of 20 departments, held its second meeting Monday to prepare for a special council meeting January 10th.

That’s when the city will make a formal request to Queen’s Park for help under the Ontario Disaster Relief Assistance Program.

The premier has not yet indicated what aid, if any, the province would provide.

However, Kathleen Wynne has announced that more than 200-thousand dollars had been raised through provincial and corporation donations for grocery store gift cards to help those who can’t afford to replace spoiled food that had to be tossed.

Those families will get $100, individuals $50.

Meanwhile, the massive cleanup is set to begin Friday.

Residents are being asked to pile all tree debris at the curb by Thursday.

It’s difficult to say precisely how much damage has been done to the city’s tree canopy, but city hall estimates 20 per cent has been lost.
