Former Toronto budget chief David Soknacki has put his name in to run for mayor in the next muncipal election. He says his priorities include economic policy and public safety. Soknacki joins several others, including incumbent Mayor Rob Ford, who have now filed papers to run in the election set for October 25th. At a news conference today to talk about the storm cleanup, Mayor Ford was asked about Soknacki’s candidacy. Ford said he is looking forward to debating David Miller’s former budget chief. Nominations will continue to be accepted until Thursday, September 11th Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., not including statutory holidays. Monday, October 25th is Voting day. On Thursday,October 28th the City Clerk will officially declare the winner.
